As the proud daughter of immigrant parents and someone who grew up in the Valley, I am very excited to be running for Congress.
I never dreamed that I would be able to achieve what I have. That’s why I will never back down from the fight to deliver for our Valley communities and ensure that every girl and boy has the same opportunities I had for a brighter future.
I look forward to earning your vote.
Candidate for US Congress, District 22
As the youngest woman ever elected to the California State Senate, Melissa Hurtado represents a new generation of Latina leaders. The daughter of immigrant parents and the first in her family to graduate college, Melissa returned home to the Valley to serve her community.
Currently in her second term in the California State Senate, Melissa is widely regarded as a fearless and fierce advocate for the Valley. Hurtado was first elected in 2018, beating an incumbent and flipping a competitive seat from Red to Blue.
In the State Senate, Melissa Hurtado won $200 million to repair canals that deliver water to our homes and farms. She brought home $67 million for emergency services, fire protection and public safety. And Melissa Hurtado championed more than $27 million for asthma prevention, Valley Fever research, health coverage for children and women’s reproductive healthcare.
Melissa previously served on the Sanger City Council and worked as a healthcare advocate fighting to expand rural clinics and hospitals, bring down drug prices and ensure access to reproductive healthcare.
Now, Melissa is running for Congress to bring the same bold, unapologetic leadership that helped flip a red State Senate seat blue, delivered unprecedented investments in the Valley, and improved the lives of Valley families.
